Williamson Health is proud to announce that the health system’s flagship location, Williamson Medical Center, has been recognized as Tennessee’s Top Maternity Hospital according to the Newsweek list of 2024 America’s Best Maternity Hospitals. The hospital has also been included in Newsweek’s 2024 list of World’s Best Hospitals and has been recognized as a four-year champion for being named among Newsweek’s list of World’s Best Hospitals from 2021-2024.
Both prestigious lists are presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider, and are available on Newsweek’s website, Newsweek.com/rankings/health.
Only Tennessee Hospital to Receive Five Ribbons
To help expectant families find the right facility to deliver their soon-to-arrive child, the Best Maternity Hospitals ranking features hospitals that were awarded either four or five ribbons based on an evaluation of their performance. Williamson Medical Center was the only Tennessee hospital and one of 168 nationally to receive five ribbons.
“We are honored that Williamson Medical Center has been recognized on Newsweek’s 2024 list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals,” said Phil Mazzuca, Williamson Health CEO. “The compassionate and exceptionally talented group of caregivers behind our nationally recognized obstetrics, neonatal intensive care and maternal care services are the driving force behind this distinction. We are grateful for their service and this award.”
High-quality maternity care, provided from pregnancy through birth and postpartum is key to the long-term health of newborns and women who give birth.
The Best Maternity ranking is based on three pillars:
- Nationwide online survey of healthcare professionals including neonatal and perinatal doctors, nurses and midwives;
- Patient experience survey of the overall patient experience in the hospital;
- Hospital quality metrics with indicators relevant to maternity care.

Williamson Medical Center has also been included in Newsweek’s list of 2024 World’s Best Hospitals. This ranking of the best hospitals in 30 countries lists facilities that provide first-class care, research and innovation while consistently attracting the best people and providing the best outcomes for patients.
The list ranks the top 2,400 hospitals worldwide with 420 U.S. hospitals recognized. Williamson Medical Center is one of only three Tennessee hospitals to be included on the 2024 list of World’s Best Hospitals. This is the fourth consecutive year for Williamson Medical Center to be acknowledged among the World’s Best.
“We are also proud to have Williamson Medical Center included among Newsweek’s 2024 list of World’s Best Hospitals for another year,” said Mazzuca. “This recognition is also a testament to the diverse team of expert providers and talented professionals dedicated to providing world-class healthcare to our community.”
